Add ICD10 to IN0101/HCAHPS Press Ganey Outbound Data Feed

Request Details

Request Title
Add ICD10 to IN0101/HCAHPS Press Ganey Outbound Data Feed

What do you want to do?
We'd like to have the ICD-10 diagnosis code added to the file layout of our IN0101/HCAHPS uploads to Press Ganey. This is basically identical to adding the ED Admit/ED LOS fields several weeks ago.

Why do you want to do this now?
This will allow us to analyze the relationship between patient diagnosis & patient experience perception of their inpatient care at EHC.

What alternatives have you considered?
Crosswalking all PG encounters previously uploaded to their encounter number and bridging with the data warehouse. This is not an effective solution because it requires an entirely different IS request every time we need a data update. Our requested project will be a one-time change that will continue to benefit all of EHC.

Describe what steps and who (person(s) or groups) that have reviewed and approved this change prior to submitting the request: Corporate Director of Service Performance Redge Hanna

What will happen if this is not approved?
We will be unable to analyze how diagnosis compares with care experience ratings on our HCAHPS surveys. This may become a required field by CMS in the future, and having the code prepared now will put us ahead of the game.

Who will this impact?
It will not adversely impact anyone within EHC.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
