Emory Partnership with Allscripts EPSI, develop real-time analytics
EPSI leaders have approached Emory to partner with them in future EPSI next generation decision support solution  development. The system would bring in additional data than current application does including clinical, billing, ADT, and Kronos payroll data to create real time actionable data to improve efficiency in staffing, patient flow, and cost reduction. Initially the project would require us to provide extracts (HL7 files) from various systems such as Millennium, ADT, and Kronos so they could begin to work with data. Product development is expected to last 3 years and we would incur no charge from the vendor. Jimmy Hatcher is very interested in pursuing this partnership. Decision needed at this time do we want to engage in the partnership and can we provide the needed files. Our current BAA with Allscripts should cover any HIPPA related concerns.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to meet with us this morning.  I thought it to be productive and look forward to next steps.  As we discussed, We are looking to get some data to build out our vision of the next generation epsi product.  We believe, initially, most of the data can be obtained from the current epsi product.  We need additional data from ADT, Time & Attendance, and from Bar Code scanning system.  Here is the minimum of what we need:
ADT :   Patient ID
                Admit/Discharge/Transfer Date/Time
                Admit/Discharge Unit
                Bed #

Time & Attendance:
Employee ID
Clock in/out date time
Cost center
Job Class
Pay Type – (reg, call back, etc.

Bar Code:
                Patient ID
                Date/Time
                Supply Item #

Again, this represents the minimum of what we need; based on how your systems are configured and what feature you are using, there may be additional data that would be valuable in this effort.  Our goal is to minimize your efforts and to that end, a dump of the data with a spec is fine and we will sort out what we need.  Additionally, we are willing to have resources knowledgeable of Cerner and out requirements on site to help with this effort.
In terms of next steps, its critical that you determine the availability of the KRONOS data as this is the focus of Phase 1.  Also, if you can research the ADT and Bar Code data to see what is available, we can circle back in a couple of weeks.  If you are comfortable, based on what you find, I would like to spend a half day onsite with you early February to dive into the details and develop the go forward plan.
Again, I appreciate your time and look forward to working with you.  Please let me know if you have additional questions. Thanks

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
